TICTAC’s vast experience with drug identification and our unique spectral libraries enable us to offer a high quality, fast turnaround drug analysis service. This includes identification/qualification of the active ingredients and also quantitative purity level measurement. While our expertise covers all drugs of abuse, we specialise in the identification and quantification of new psychoactive substances (“legal highs”).
The European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Abuse (EMCDDA) has reported an exponential increase in the number of new psychoactive substances found across Europe. TICTAC has been responsible for the identification of many of these.
We use a variety of hyphenated chromatographic and mass‐spectrometric techniques to identify drugs and measure purity levels. Most commonly this involves gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS), Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR/FTIR), low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS). When required, we also have access to high-field NMR spectroscopy, high resolution mass spectrometry (HR-MS) and drug synthesis.
